Dr. Rakesh Sharma

Dr. Rakesh Sharma is a distinguished academic, administrator, and environmental leader with over four decades of experience across biochemistry, forestry, environmental management, and higher education. A University Gold Medalist for his doctoral research in Biochemistry, Dr. Sharma began his career as an Assistant Professor at HAU, Hisar, before joining the Indian Forest Service in 1984. Over the years, he has held several senior leadership positions, including Joint Commissioner at Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Director of the Central Tibetan School Administration, Advisor-I at AICTE, Registrar at IIT Delhi, and Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed to be University from 2018 to 2021. He retired at the rank of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests while serving as Education Secretary, Government of Himachal Pradesh. He has also contributed to the governance of several institutions of national repute and has participated in academic and professional engagements internationally.
